Hackers wisten ruim 740.000 Bitcoin te stelen van Mt. Gox, een schadepost van naar schatting $350 miljoen. Het gevolg was dat Mt. Gox niet meer aan haar verplichtingen kon voldoen en haar activiteit stopzette. De verklaring op de site van Mt. Gox is weinig hoopgevend voor de slachtoffers.
