Crypto advertenties niet langer toegestaan op TikTok
TikTok kondigde vrijdag aan dat
bepaalde soorten advertenties niet langer zouden worden toegestaan op hun platform. Volgens een artikel van FT Adviser op 8 juli werd crypto-gebaseerde promotionele inhoud opgenomen onder de nu-verboden onderwerpen.
De nieuwe richtlijnen op het sociale videplatform zullen gebruikers specifiek verbieden om promotionele inhoud over financiële producten te plaatsen, ongeacht de geografische locatie van de poster. “Volgens TikTok’s branded content beleid, is de promotie van alle financiële diensten en producten nu wereldwijd verboden,” aldus het FT Adviser artikel.
TikTok was een broeinest voor Dogecoin (DOGE) hype in 2020, toen gebruikers gerelateerde video’s deelden in een poging om meer mensen te enthousiasmeren. Andere sociale mediasites hebben de afgelopen maanden ook opmerkelijke discussies over de financiële markten gevoerd.
Informed Choice’s hoofd klanteneducatie, Martin Bamford vertelde aan FT Adviser: “Mijn interpretatie hiervan is dat [TikTok] direct of indirect gesponsorde inhoud die leidt tot een affiliate link, bijvoorbeeld om je aan te melden bij een handelsplatform en gratis aandelen te krijgen, aan banden legt.” Hij voegde hieraan toe: “We zien een enorme hoeveelheid van deze branded content op TikTok, meestal van slecht geïnformeerde commentatoren, die volgelingen lokken met beloften van rijkdom, maar in werkelijkheid hun geld verdienen aan mensen die zich aanmelden via affiliate links.”
Het is onduidelijk of het verbod van TikTok geldt voor alle discussies over financiële producten, of alleen die promotioneel van aard zijn. Google verbood crypto-advertenties in 2018, hoewel het dit jaar een deel van dat verbod voor sommige entiteiten heeft verwijderd, in afwachting van bepaalde vereisten.
