Wereldwijd zijn er honderden verschillende digitale munten. Iedereen kan een eigen munt beginnen. Hierdoor komen er dagelijks nieuwe munten bij. Er zijn twee soorten cryptomunten. De allereerste munt was de Bitcoin. Hierna zijn er alternatieven voor de Bitcoin ontstaan omdat deze zo succesvol bleek. Dit zijn Altcoins. Bitcoin
In 2009 startte het Bitcoin netwerk. Satoshi Nakamoto gebruikte zijn computer om Bitcoin te minen. Minen is het verwerken van Bitcoin transacties in blokken. Deze blokken samen noemen we een blockchain. Twaalf jaar later is deze grondlegger de cryptomunt met de hoogste marktwaarde. Wil je investeren? Houd de Bitcoin koers dan goed in de gaten voordat je investeert.
Ethereum
Ethereum is de tweede grootste cryptomunt. Opvallend aan Ethereum is dat het een eigen systeem en blockchain heeft. Ontwikkelaars kunnen hier zelf toepassingen op bouwen. Er is geen limiet aan de hoeveelheid Ether die wordt vrijgegeven bij het minen. Bij Bitcoin is deze limiet wel aanwezig. Ook bij deze munt is het belangrijk om de Ethereum koers eerst goed in de gaten te houden voordat je gaat investeren.
Ripple
De munt van het bedrijf Ripple heet eigenlijk XRP, maar wordt vaak Ripple genoemd. Het bedrijf is opgericht in 2012 en heeft drie platformen ontwikkeld om betalingsverkeer tussen banken te versnellen. De transacties hebben een hoge zekerheid van levering en lage kosten. In tegenstelling tot veel andere cryptomunten is het niet mogelijk om Ripple te minen.
Dogecoin
Het is geen grap: deze digitale munt heeft een hond als mascotte. De ‘dog e-coin’ gebruikt de technologie van de Bitcoin Blockchain. De munt is daarom een echte Altcoin. Grote verschillen zijn dat er voorlopig geen schaarste optreedt, maar de koersen liggen lager. Ook is minen toegankelijker omdat de hardware vereisten lager zijn.
Chainlink
Dit is een uniek platform met een eigen coin die een tussenschakel vormt tussen blockchains en externe systemen. Hiervoor gebruikt Chainlink smart contracts. Dit is een afspraak in codetaal, vastgelegd in de blockchain. De munt is erg betrouwbaar omdat het samenwerkt met meerdere grote bedrijven.

Weet je nog niet zeker in welke cryptomunten je wilt investeren? Een populaire manier om minder risico te lopen is het spreiden van je kansen. Investeer een gedeelte in Bitcoin en Ethereum als goede basis. Ook kun je een gedeelte investeren in munten als Dogecoin en Chainlink. Deze zijn iets risicovoller, maar je kunt er veel geld mee verdienen als het goed gaat.
